Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Knowsley, Liverpool

Start Date: September 1st

Salary: GBP105 GBP115 per day

Contract: Full–time, Term–Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to join a vibrant and supportive special primary school in Knowsley, Liverpool. The school caters to pupils aged 4 to 11 with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs, as well as additional learning difficulties.

This community–focused school values communication, positive relationships, independence, and emotional well–being. Staff work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small–group support to pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs

Assist pupils with their learning, emotional regulation, and daily routines

Promote positive behaviour strategies and support de–escalation where needed

Encourage independence, resilience, and social skills through consistent, positive reinforcement

Work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored interventions

Requirements

Minimum of 6 months classroom or behaviour support experience in the UK

Experience working with children with SEND, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), or behavioural challenges is desirable

Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners in a special needs setting

Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff

Eligibility

Right to work in the UK

Enhanced Child Barred List DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)

Two professional references related to childcare or education

Available to work full–time from September 1st
