Description
Beautiful Vintage Epiphone by Gibson Sheraton. This is one of a rare headstock which was only offered for a very brief period during the 80s, as it was used for the first run of these guitars when Gibson moved manufacture to Korea. Original hard shell case included. The gold plated parts have wear and pitting showing age and vintage as all parts are original. The finish is in good condition with a few cracks and wear in keeping with a guitar of this age. Overall a beautiful vintage instrument in very good condition.
This is the type of Sheraton that was favored by blues artists such as John Lee Hooker and John Primer, and as such has an incredible blues sound that immediately evokes the sounds of Hookers early blues. On the other hand throw a wall of overdrive in and the guitar is perfect for that wall of sound favoured by the likes of Oasis.
The guitar does have that vintage sound and feel and its tonal characteristics are somewhat different to more modern semi-hollows owing to the materials and build process used at the time. The guitar is slightly heavier than more recent Sheratons and this can be heard in the tone.
Built at the Samick factory in Korea between 1986 - 1988, this version of the Sheraton is easily spotted by the "Epiphone By Gibson" headstock inlay.
Features: Laminate maple body & top, mahogany center block, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, Alnico Classic humbucking pickups, Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, gold hardware.
No time wasters please. Please feel free to arrange to test the guitar if interested. Collection only, though I could possibly deliver if in reasonable distance to Craigavon.
