Performance Guitar (1997 Warren DeMartini model)

This is a 1997 Warren DeMartini model Performance Guitar and made
in Hollywood, California. The Koa wood on this one comes from the same
stock as the original model. Warren used this guitar on the 1994 Whitesnake
tour. You can see him using this model on YouTube footage. Type in
Whitesnake - First Step in Russia (there's a good view of him taking a
solo on this guitar model from the 30:18 to 30:46 section).

I'm selling this on behalf of a friend who purchased this guitar new
in 1997. It took about six months to build. He describes the sound
like a cross between a Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster.

My friend, had this custom built, and opted to not have the Performance
logo inlay on the head stock (one can contact Performance Guitars
for an original decal if desired). The serial number is 01246.

The front pickup is a Performance Guitar custom single coil one,
tweaked to Warren's specification and the bridge humbucker is a
Seymour Duncan JB pickup. The guitar's original whammy bar is
included (see photo).

The guitar was used on a short tour of LA and the west coast in 2000.

The solid Koa wood of the body - exclusive to Hawaii, is a volcanic wood
and has unique sound properties, and is now restricted to procure.

Performance Guitars is a small LA-based custom guitar shop who
have been building high-end guitars since 1979, and came to
prominence when Frank Zappa commissioned them to build him
some guitars. They have also built guitars for Steve Vai, Warren
DeMartini, Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Joe Walsh, Dweezil Zappa,
Paul Gilbert, Warren Cuccullulo, etc..

Note that this guitar is similar in weight to a Les Paul.

I would expect any serious guitarist to want to view and tryout.

The guitar comes with a used standard Gibson gig bag (the zip is
temperamental but useable). A used Klondyke strap is also included
in the sale.
