Description

This is a Gibson Les Paul 60s Tribute in honeyburst. It has been recently professionally modified & set up by Mad Malko in Glasgow, Scotland (check out his Youtube channel).

The guitar dates from 2018, serial number 180035954.

Because you're reading this, you're no doubt aware of the impact Peter Green's legendary guitar (subsequently owned by Gary Moore and now played by Kirk Hammett of Metallica) has had on blues & rock music. Peter (not necessarily much of a guitar tech) wanted to sound like Eric Clapton and removed the neck humbucker. He subsequently had it re-installed, but backwards by mistake. This gave the guitar its "distinctly nasal" out-of-phase tone when the pickup selector switch is in the middle position.
If, like a lot of us on a budget, you don't have 3 grand to spend on one of the new Gibson Kirk Hammett models or do not want to buy an overpriced Epiphone signature model (retailing at £1500), then this is right up your boulevard.

It has the original Gibson 490R and 498T pickups.

The neck humbucker has been professionally modified in out-of-phase mode, so when in the middle position you get the all important tone; but it also has a push-pull function on the neck pickup tone control, which when activated reverts it to sounding like a normal LP, giving you the best of both worlds.

The PCB board has also been removed, the cavity copper shielded and the wiring replaced with '50s-style braided ones. This is more common on expensive Gibson models.

There are many marks of varying sizes on the body (particularly by the neck pocket), back of the neck and headstock which I have tried to photograph and the chrome hardware is a rather tarnished, so if you're looking for a pristine model, then this may not be for you. It's natural playwear, mostly from the previous owner. As far as I am aware, the guitar has never been gigged (certainly not by me).

I have a tatty old hard case I store it in which will be included in the sale, along with some paperwork I got when I bought it.

I have attached a link of Malko talking about the work he's done and demonstrating the sounds.
