Description
A very special guitar, this 2012 Les Paul Collectors Choice 59 is as close to an original 59 burst as is possible. Gibson really excelled here with the Collector Choice reissues.
Based on original early Les Paul's from collectors, Gibson issued a range of guitars that were as closely matched as possible to a few selected examples in limited numbers.
This particular one is the Collectors Choice #6. A virtual perfect copy of "Number One", owned by Mike Sublowski. Original serial number 9-1918. Named as such as Mike called this his 'desert island' guitar; or 'Number One' of his collection of over 140 Les Paul's.
Weighs only 8lbs 14oz with no weight relief, and is super resonant.
Everything is recreated including neck angle, carve, materials, finish and pickups, which are perfectly wound precisely to the original guitar.
This guitar is VOS but looks almost new, as the original was kept almost unplayed and therefore didn't have the colour fade of most 59s. This is as close to what a new 59 burst would have looked like in the shop back in the day. Save yourself £200k and buy this
Unmarked and in mint condition, complete with original case and candy, these guitars unsurprisingly just keep going up in value. Number 120 of a maximum of 300
Collection preferred but may deliver for fuel or meetup within reasonable distance
