Description
May trade for something of similar value. This is a rare 1988 Fender ’72 'Reissue' Stratocaster. Made in Japan (MIJ) in the Fuji Gen Gakki factory. The build and finish is excellent and lives up to Fuji Gen's deserved reputation for quality. It features an attractively grained one-piece Sen Ash body finished in 3-colour sunburst. The maple neck and 7.25" fretboard have a vintage amber tint.
The ST72-70 was the higher spec version of the two ST72 MIJ 70s-style Strats available during 1988. It is the only version to have USA-made single coil pickups as stock.
It is in very good shape and is ageing gracefully. There is some naturally acquired playwear, although less than you might expect for a 37-year-old vintage Strat but enough to suggest the beginnings of a natural relic. Specifically, some fretboard wear around the 5th, 6th and 7th frets, some aging to the plastics, and some marks and small indentations to the finish, but nothing that affects playability. I've provided photographs but let me know if you would like to see any particular area in more detail.
All the electronics work as they should and the USA pick-ups and 5-way switch provide all the classic Strat tones.
It is missing its backplate and tremolo arm.
It comes with the Tourtech hard case pictured.
I’m happy to answer questions, or provide further close-up pics should you require them. You’re welcome to come and try it, just message me.
Sale is to UK only. For your and my peace of mind I strongly recommend collection in person.
Thanks.
