Description
Heavily modded vintage Fender/vintage Fender parts guitar/a very players grade pre cbs Fender? You can Call it what you want. Listing as a duo sonic because that's how it was sold to me, it's what replacement decal has been put on, and it's got two pickups. But in all honesty I have no way of knowing if either neck or body were originally a duo sonic or a musicmaster, both used the same body and neck. But anyone interested is welcome to take it apart and have a good look. I've got my eyes on a couple of guitars at the moment around £950, so I'll sell it for £950, I'm sure if you are seriously looking you know the crazy prices even players grade duos and musicmasters currently go for, and that this is under half the price of most. On which given the mods condition, I think is a reasonable value. Cash offers, let me know, if its enough to buy anything I'm looking at, I'll check they still have it and let you know.
I'm open to trades but would be looking for specifically.
A mid 70s Fender musicmaster
70s Fender mustang
Fender bullet h1 or h2
Original Fender lead i or iii.
Or
A modern Fender jazzmaster professional ii
Condition and mods not important to me (clearly)
I'll outline the guitar best I can,
This guitar was a doner guitar for my other duo sonic. Neck is a 1958 (from the heel stamp Sept 58) one piece maple with a soft v profile, the body is later based on positioning of upper strap pin, 61-64, and looks to have originally been red based on paint remnants under pickguard and neckplate (which I believe was offered 61-64). It has a 61 neck serial number, but this looks a likely a reproduction based on another guitar I have that has the original plate. Body has been stripped to barewood, and ferrules added, original bridge plate but replaced brass telecaster saddles.
Currently has some hotrails in, unsure on make and all modern electrics.
Headstock repair looks like a split effecting only high e, the front of the headstock has been veneered with Maple and a new decal applied, and a wider replacement nut, tuners are also replacements. Was already repaired when I got it, but it's very well done, smooth to run your fingers over and guitar holds tune really well with a nice low action.
It has a red plastic and a gold metal pickguard, both are included. Comes with a very tatty currently non functioning vintage hardcase, covered in pre nationalisation train journey stickers obviously not original to the guitar, but I think is pretty cool in it's own right and worth mentioning.
Any questions or any other photos wanted let me know and I'll try my best to answer.
I have been as brutally 'warts and all' about the guitar as I can be, I've taken as many photos as I can think you might need to assess it, as I did when I bought it, but I stress anyone seriously interested you are completely welcome to take it all apart and have a good look over everything should you want to.
Previously when I listed it I had random comments like "shame it isn't all original and perfect condition otherwise I'd have had it off you in a second at that price" thanks for that, we all would! Telling me it's not original despite the description And Asking me how I know what it is.
I've owned a few over the years. I took it to bits found it as I'd outlined above, I was satisfied with what it was, happy with the price and I bought it. Anyone wanting to buy/trade, I invite you to take it to bits look over it, if you are satisfied happy days, if you aren't thanks for your interest.
