Hello! I'm Dave Collett. I’ve been playing guitar for about 35 years and teaching for about 20. I have busked my way across most of Europe and played in many bars and clubs. I teach clients from complete beginner – those that have never even held a guitar before, through to advanced intermediate.
I show how to hold the guitar and how to hold the strings down to get clear notes. I begin by showing five basic chords and how to change between them using various rhythms. These five chords alone will allow you to play tens of thousands of songs! From this foundation I then show many more different chords, rhythms, techniques and styles to help you play the songs that you would really love to play. Apart from songs, I also show many different chord progressions and techniques that allow my clients to just pick up the guitar and play it. This covers everything from 12-bar blues, finger-picking and alternate tunings.
All of my lessons are currently done using Skype. A great feature recently added to Skype is that you can record part or even the whole lesson and watch it in-between lessons to help with the practice. Each recording would be available for 30 days which again, is completely free!
I do not use a curriculum with my lessons, and all lessons are catered to each individual client based on their lifestyles and how much time they have to be able to practice each week. All of my lessons are backed up with chord diagrams, chord progressions, techniques and song sheets (with chords, lyrics, chord progressions and suggested strumming patterns to use) which I would then email to you.
