Trout & Salmon 220 Popular Flies … ‘Originally tied for the salmon and sea-trout of the west of Ireland, it is a great catcher of reservoir trout when fished on the dropper on days of grey skies and rolling waves’.
Tied on size 12, 10 (Veniard ‘Osprey’ hooks) and size 8 hooks as recommended by T & S. I used to sell these a lot dearer but I have purchased a bulk pack which allows me to sell much cheaper than when I used Veniard’s which cost £9.99 /10. 75p
I have been tying flies for 65 years including as a student for a Glasgow wholesaler until he retired in the mid-1980s … in total I tied for him for 17 years because Jack was very good to me as a student.
