Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

Location: Bristol, UK

Salary: 39,150 per annum (including 4,500 shift allowance)

Contract: Full–time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off – Days & Nights (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer to join a dedicated maintenance team in a large, critical environment in Bristol. This role is ideal for a reliable, skilled mechanical engineer who thrives in a fast–paced setting and is committed to maintaining essential building services to the highest standards.

You will work on a rotating shift pattern, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical and building services systems

Maintain HVAC systems, gas appliances, steam plant, medical gas systems, and associated equipment

Diagnose faults, complete repairs, and support small installation or refurbishment works

Prepare and test pressure vessels for inspection

Oversee specialist contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed

Maintain detailed maintenance records and comply with all safety regulations and procedures

Skills & Experience Required:

Recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or Level 2 or 3 qualifications in a mechanical discipline

Plumbing experience is essential

Good knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems in commercial or industrial settings

Ability to fault–find, read technical drawings, and complete works independently

18th Edition or electrical qualifications (desirable but not required)

Strong team player with effective communication and customer service skills

IT literate and open to professional development
