Hydraulic Modeller

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hydraulic Modeller to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and varied projects in across Scotland, England and overseas, including wetland restoration schemes, re–wetting, and re–wilding initiatives. The role involves utilising advanced hydraulic modelling tools such as Flood Modeller and Tuflow to deliver innovative solutions in the water and environmental sectors.

Responsibilities

As a Flood Modeller/Hydrology Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:

Developing and delivering hydraulic models using tools such as Flood Modeller and Tuflow.Conducting hydrological assessments using WINFAP, ReFH2, and FEH statistical methods.Supporting wetland restoration schemes, re–wetting, and re–wilding projects.Producing detailed Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) in accordance with NPF4 policies and SEPA/Local Authority requirements.Translating complex modelling outputs into accessible and actionable insights for clients and stakeholders.Reviewing and validating third–party models for accuracy and suitability.Collaborating with clients, SEPA, and Local Authorities to ensure project compliance and success.Managing projects from concept to completion, including client communication and reporting.Contributing to business development, bidding for work, and expanding the company's project portfolio.Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

A degree in Geography, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.UK–based industry experience in flood risk management or hydrology.Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller and Tuflow.Experience in hydrological analysis using WINFAP, ReFH2, and FEH statistical methods.Familiarity with 1D and 2D modelling techniques and their application to various studies.Strong understanding of NPF4 policies and experience producing FRAs for planning applications.Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.Experience working with SEPA and Local Authorities.A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a distributed team.Benefits
