Description

Engineering Team Leader (Electrical Bias) – Mid Suffolk – Permanent role

Full–Time Food Manufacturing Hands–On Role

Working hours: 08:00–16:00 with 30min lunch break

Shift: Monday–Friday

Are you an experienced engineer ready to step up and lead a team? Shorterm Group are currently working with a client who is looking for a practical, driven, and hands–on Engineering Team Leader to join their growing food manufacturing business in Mid Suffolk.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll lead by example–responding to breakdowns, driving continuous improvement, and keeping production downtime to a minimum. You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, and Management teams, playing a key role in maintaining high standards across performance, safety, and food quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support day–to–day engineering operations, breakdowns, and installations

Diagnose faults and implement solutions to minimise downtime

Assist with scheduling and overseeing engineers and contractors

Maintain accurate engineering stock levels and report shortfalls

Champion Health & Safety, Food Safety, and GMP procedures

Deliver and support preventive maintenance programmes

Train and coach team members on safe systems of work

What We're Looking For:

Time–served engineer with strong mechanical and electrical background

Experience working with PLCs and machine controls

Background in production or food manufacturing environments

Effective problem–solving and fault–finding skills

Strong communication skills with a proactive approach

Electrical and mechanical qualifications (desirable)

Coaching and leadership experience
