Description

Our client is a specialist equipment rental house, supplying cutting-edge technology and technical support to film and TV productions worldwide. From major feature film franchises to high-end television and commercials, their work supports some of the most ambitious and exciting productions in the industry.

We are seeking a hands-on Trainee Electronics Technician with strong practical skills to help manufacture, assemble, and test technical equipment. This role is suited to someone who thrives on "being on the tools" rather than focusing on design work. While good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are essential, the primary focus is on executing tasks with precision and efficiency.

The right candidate will have experience with soldering, cable crimping, and general assembly work, as well as an understanding of electronics. You'll support senior engineers and play a key role in building our engineering capabilities while developing your skills over time.

About the Work

We build custom rigs that integrate off-the-shelf components with 3D printed parts, custom circuits and tailored wiring, to supply predominantly flight-cased products that are used on film sets by highly experienced technicians. These products are used for applications that include audio, video, network and RF, and often require custom power and battery solutions. These items are supported by a large array of customised cables, cable reels and carts.

Role and Responsibilities

• Cable Assembly: Soldering, crimping, and assembling custom cables.

• Equipment Modifications: Modifying technical equipment as required.

• Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining hire equipment.

• Testing: PAT testing (training provided), assembly, and testing of hire equipment.

• Building Systems: Assisting in the construction and testing of Audio-Visual equipment for hire.

• Work Orders: Managing workload using work orders and internal systems.

• Experience in PCB repair

• Familiarity with breadboarding, prototyping and interpreting PCB schematics

• Basic surface-mounted device (SMD) assembly

• HNC/HND in Electronics or Electrical Engineering

• BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or greater

• Experience assembling and testing AV equipment

Working Conditions
