Description

World Class Defence Organisation, based in Bolton, is currently looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer subcontractor on an initial 12-month contract.

Hourly Rate: £40.00ph

Contract Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

Job Description:

The successful candidate will support the Assembly Operations business by developing, optimising and improving internal Stores and Logistics processes to aid the delivery to UK & international customers. They will support and lead waste/defect reduction activities that will increase productivity as we drive towards trebling our production rates while reducing our costs.

Your main responsibilities will involve:

Establishing, maintaining, and overseeing Continuous Improvement (CI) review processes to ensure long-term effectiveness and integrity.

Leading and coordinating CI initiatives to drive corrective and preventive actions.

Assisting in root cause investigations for issues related to externally sourced detailed components.

Minimising quality-related problems in the stores area—such as rework and non-conformances—using structured problem-solving methods like 8D and A3.

Applying process control and capability strategies to key logistics and store operations, aligned with both internal goals and external customer requirements.

A few things you should know:

Background in manufacturing and warehousing (preferred but not mandatory).

Familiarity with supply chain and goods receiving operations.

Knowledge of MRP systems and Just-in-Time practices, particularly within a store or inventory setting.

Experience with structured problem-solving (8D / A3) to resolve store-level defects, including rework and non-conformities.

Practical understanding of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.

Proficient in CI and quality improvement methodologies.

Hands-on experience with Minitab or similar data analysis tools.
