Hello, my name is Chris. I started DJing in the mid 90's, originally I was playing hip-hop, soul and funk in various places in Manchester. More recently I run a Ibiza style house night - all kinds of house and disco with sax and percussion.

I have had some residencies over the years playing funk/soul and house but I feel that it has been in the local pubs and clubs and doing functions where I have really learned how to read a crowd and try and find tracks that people like regardless of genre. I am happy to play anything from current pop, 70's, 80's, 00's, 90's house and HipHop/RnB, reggae, Indie/ rock/ska, funk, disco, latin - anything that gets people up dancing!

I am more than happy to go with the crowd on the night and feel that the best gigs are those where I manage to have a combination of knowing what people want a bit ahead of the gig but then interact with the crowd on the night to play what they want to dance to.

I love a challenge and enjoy putting play lists for nights together with clients. Last year I did an engagement party for a girl who was 25 and wanted music from the 2000's (I've been booked for the wedding too! :-)). I did a 30th birthday party in a teepee on a farm for a girl who was part of a musical theater group and she wanted 80's music and songs from musicals that they could sing along too. I did a 40th for a chap who wanted house/tech house and I took with me a sax player and percussionist. I did a 50th for a chap who loved rock and used to go to Sandinista in Leeds and the brief was to make it as much like that as possible. I did a 50th for a lady who was throwing a movie night themed party and on top of the 100 tracks she sent me she also wanted movie theme tunes to play adhoc when I spotted various fancy dress themes!

I'm not the most technical DJ, I can certainly hold my own with a few little skills here and there but my focus is on what the client wants and not about what I want to play or do. I'm very confident I could get very decent references from each client that I have mentioned for you if you want them. Well, the recent ones anyway - not the ones from the 90's!
