Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
One of the remaining pieces from our Desvres pottery collection, we got this from a vide maison at Autricourt in the Burgundy region.
It’s an unusual hand made lidded RILLETTES Pate bowl/dish in the shape of a pig from the Desvres Pottery Chaumiere or cottage range dating to the late 1970s.
Desvres Dutertre Faience is famous in France, as is the maker of these items - Gabriel Fourmaintraux.
An attractive item signed G.F fait main (Gabriel Fourmaintraux hand made) it’s in very good condition and makes a great functional and decorative piece of French kitchenalia.
In very good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age and use but no damage - please see photographs for condition.
I can find only light wear and no chips or cracks to the pottery.
The Pig character is well made.
The glazed floral design is still bright.
The lid fits loosely.
The base is worn but sound.
Marked with maker’s marks to the bottom.
Measures approximately:
13 cm tall, 21 cm long, 9.5 cm wide
Weighs about 650 g.
