Description
For sale is a Power Mac G5 Desktop Computer.
This is the very last (Late 2005) model before they switched to Intel processors with the Mac Pro.
Because of this, it supports DDR2 RAM, PCIe expansion cards, and uses a standard computer CR2032 battery instead of the 1/2AA all earlier Mac Desktops used.
This is the 2.0GHz model, the slowest configuration of this particular model, but it's 100% air cooled instead of the liquid cooling the higher-end ones used, which means it's far more reliable and easier to work on than those.
The computer also has the stock GeForce 6600LE graphics card, which as far as I'm aware is the only GPU that X11 on Linux works on these machines if you fancy running Linux on this machine.
Comes outfitted with 2GB of DDR2 444MHz RAM and a 500GB hard drive imaged with a fresh copy of Sorbet Leopard (a custom version of Leopard with PowerPC optimisations)
The computer doesn't come with an AirPort Extreme card or the mounting screws for a second hard disk, as shown in the photos.
These older PowerPC Macs are still good for and widely used for music production, which is what this machine did before I owned it.
Collection only. If I had the original box I would be more apprehensive about shipping it, but too many of these computers get damaged in shipping.
