About my lessons (Please read before messaging as my information may answer any questions you have)
In my dance lessons you will find that I am very attentive and will always listen to what my students want to get from my classes. My classes vary in their structure as I tailor my lesson to my students needs, but usually we will do a warm up, go over some new moves and grooves or exercises, and then start to learn a new dance (choreographed in certain styles chosen by you), or a short combination of the learnt moves in the lesson, and then wind down by having a good stretch and cool down at the end.
I also do a lot of dance lessons for complete beginners with no experience who would just like to learn how to dance to music, be able to apply it in social settings and have fun with others who might be up on the dance floor.
Whereas for the more technical dancer wanting to optimise themselves, we can focus more on technique and conditioning which would involve strengthening the body's core (and other muscles), while developing coordination, balance, alignment and optimising flexibility.
Here's also a link to my dance website if you want more information: www.flexadance.com
For reviews check my Flexa Dance business on Google.
The reason I dance and teach dance is because I love how dance can build confidence, and change the way it makes people feel, especially when you can put on a tune that you love and start to move freely and confidently to it yourself. My dance lessons aren't just about learning dance and the steps or movements... they're about positivity, self love, confidence and enjoying something you may have wanted to do for a long time but just never got around to.
If you also just want to look good dancing and have some cool moves for a celebration/event or party coming up, or for your social media (TikTok/Instagram etc.) I am more than happy to help with this. Or if you are one of those people who feels like you have no rhythm, or that you have two left feet, then we can go over some basics and start to get you grooving to your favourite tunes.
Lessons can be conducted online (most chosen option for those too far to travel to me), at the student's home, or at a hall (extra fee to cover the hall hire). PLEASE NOTE MY LOCATION - HORSHAM - WEST SUSSEX. I also offer a free 30 minute taster session for those who aren't sure about trying lessons online, so why not give it a go.
Wedding dances - Lessons for the 1st wedding dance will need to be in person. I am more than happy to have a phon consultation with the bride and groom to be to discuss what you are looking for and to hopefully bring peace of mind to you both. Please message me with contact details and a suitable time to chat.
Stag and hen dos - A fun dance workshop which can be just for a laugh and fun, or some lessons for a performance at the wedding.
About Me
I started my dance lessons when I was 3 years old taking ballet, tap and jazz, and I never stopped! My Nan instilled a love for dance and music in me from watching musicals, seeing live performances and taking me to my dance classes. From my teen years I began to expand my styles and took classes in Street dance and Hip Hop (as I watched many dance films and thought the style was very cool.) At college I then went on to learn a lot about Contemporary dance for A level, and even though it's a great style to learn, it was never fully me. Then as I started to mature I wanted to have that feminine side added to my dance repertoire so I took up pole and started to learn heels and burlesque. I am always trying to push myself, take classes and learn more, as the dance world is always expanding with new styles.
I am a qualified and experienced freelance teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience to students aged 3-50+ in different dance schools and settings. I love choreographing and I'm experienced in teaching and choreographing the following styles: Street/HipHop, Jazz/Jazz funk, Tap, Heels/Burlesque, Musicals and more (beginner wedding dances and medleys too).
I would say my dance style is a mixture of the above, I like to be hard hitting and have an attitude for things like Street and Hip Hop, but I also love that feminine quality of dancing, and at the same time there's always a part of me wanting to be like Gene Kelly and create a big musical number like 'Singing in the rain'.
