Visitor Services Assistant

Activus Recruitment is proud to be hiring on behalf of a Castle Garden, a thriving community garden and visitor attraction run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community. Due to increasing visitor numbers, Castle Gardens is looking for a friendly and organised Visitor Services Assistant to help manage the increasing number of enquiries for group visits, private events etc.

Key Responsibilities

* As a keyholder, open the gardens for visitors at 10am and close at 4pm

* Welcome visitors and provide them with basic information

* Collect entry fees (cash/card payments)

* Process membership applications

* Bank the cash and cheques, and provide details to the bookkeeper

* Take bookings for tours, school visits, private events etc.

* Answer straightforward email and Facebook enquiries

* Organise PAT testing

* Order supplies

Skills and Knowledge

* Outgoing and friendly manner

* Good with people and willing to work with a large team of volunteers

* Good verbal and written communication skills

* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

* Ability to use own initiative

* Can-do attitude

Hours & Pay

*

4 weekdays from 10am – 4pm in summer (fewer hours in winter).

National Living Wage.

*

Primarily on-site work.

*

Fixed Term: until end of October (next year, probably March - end October, winter hours to be discussed)

*

Ideally self-employed, but other arrangements can be discussed
