Policy Advisor – People and Culture

Location: BCP Council (hybrid working – some office presence required)

Contract: Temporary, full-time

Rate: £21.50 per hour LTD / £17.79 PAYE

Interviews: In person

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our local authority client for a Policy Advisor to join their busy and supportive People and Culture team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to contribute to a fair, inclusive, and high-performing workplace by shaping and implementing key policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development, review, and implementation of People and Culture policies in line with employment legislation, best practice, and BCP Council’s values.

Monitor and interpret changes in employment law, advising on the implications for policy and practice.

Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including trade unions, legal advisors, and service managers, to ensure policies are legally sound, practical, and aligned with the Council’s strategic objectives.

Provide expert advice and guidance on complex HR policy matters to senior leaders and People and Culture Business Partners.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Full CIPD membership.

Relevant experience of employee relations and policy development in a unionised setting.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex HR processes into clear, accessible policies and procedures.If you have a strong HR policy background and are confident working with stakeholders at all levels, we’d love to hear from you.
