Senior Planning Officer (Major Projects) – Part–time 22.5 hours

Location: Stoke–on–Trent

Length of Contract: Interim until January 2025

Section: Planning Services

Hourly rate: 51.20 umbrella

Are you ready to shape the future of our city? We're looking for a Senior Planning Officer (Major Projects) to join our Planning Services team and play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable, high–quality development across the city.

About the Role

As a Senior Planning Officer, you'll provide expert planning advice and manage complex major development applications. You'll work closely with key stakeholders, including developers, landowners, and strategic partner,s to support regeneration priorities and investment opportunities. This is a high–impact role where your expertise will influence the city's growth and transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and recommend decisions on major planning applications, including those involving listed buildings, conservation areas, and hazardous substances.Provide specialist input into regeneration projects and strategic development initiatives.Advise senior officers and stakeholders on planning considerations for major investments.Lead public engagement exercises and represent the Council at inquiries and hearings.Monitor planning conditions and validate applications.Contribute to the performance management of the Development Management Team.

What We're Looking For

A relevant degree and eligibility for chartered membership of the RTPI.Proven experience in managing complex planning applications and working with diverse stakeholders.Strong understanding of planning law, policy, and commercial development motivations.Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach.If you would like to hear more about this vacancy, please contact Chrissie at the Derby Office or apply directly.
