Description

Job Title: Rent Accountant

Contract: Temporary 6 months

Hours: Full time

Pay Rate: GBP225per day (Umbrella)

Overview:

The Rent Accountant will manage rent and service charge accounting processes for legacy Network and SW9, ensuring financial accuracy across transactions worth GBP160m annually. The role includes posting journals, reconciling bank and control accounts, validating rent settings, and supporting audits. This role also provides leadership to one direct report.

Key Responsibilities:

Post weekly journals into SUN for rent and service charge transactions.

Reconcile payments from third–party channels, resolving discrepancies.

Review and correct remittances between client codes.

Reconcile weekly NEC interface files to SUN journals.

Undertake weekly reconciliation of Universal Credit receipts.

Support rent setting validation for in–year relets.

Ensure timely allocation of suspense items, refunds, and property–related transactions.

Support internal/external audits with documentation and walkthroughs.

Serve as backup for the Rent and Service Charge Analyst.

Lead one direct report, providing direction, performance management, and development.

Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement within the team.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Part–qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA or qualified by experience.

Strong knowledge of rent accounting, income management, and regulatory requirements.

Experience in reconciliations, audits, and rent setting.

Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills.

Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

Desirable:

NEC system experience.

Background in social housing finance.

Experience driving efficiencies and strengthening financial controls.
