Description

***AUGUST SPECIAL*
£10 OFF FIRST LESSON
£20 OFF FIRST BLOCK

Hi, I teach Singing, Keyboards/Piano, Music Theory and Vocayoga - a fusion of breathwork, voice and yoga. I offer these to beginners as well as more advanced students (please note piano students require to have passed an ABRSM Grade 1 or equivalent exam). I teach all genres and styles (apart from vocal frying) and can help with exams, auditions and performances as well as offering lessons just for the joy of learning music without a goal in mind.

I am an experienced teacher, check out one of my great testimonials:

***This tutor has a unique way of teaching and I feel that she is someone who has finally managed to get through to me in singing lessons! She opened my eyes to an amazing new technique which I have now adopted that has really helped my breathing and that has opened my eyes to the possibilities of my voice. Not only is she a great teacher, she’s one of the most passionate, enthusiastic people I’ve met in a long time and she has done nothing but motivate me to strive forward!*** – Marina Rolink, signed to Toytown Records

You can find further testimonials on my website above ⬆️

VOCAL TUITION
I was lucky enough to study with Winifred Busfield, formerly Head of Singing at the RSAMD (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).

She taught me how to breathe properly ie using the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, and in turn I pass this on to my students, with amazing results. I also teach vocal exercises tailored to suit the individual students, from the professional singer doing an audition or looking for a refresher to the nervous beginner. Learning to breathe the right way helps general health too, and I spend the first 10 minutes of every lesson on breathing and relaxation.

I deliver high quality tuition to students in all styles, ages (no under fives at present), whether you have an audition, an exam, or are in a band and want to improve your vocal delivery. Students find they achieve great results from the very first lesson, including increased confidence in their abilities and in themselves.

PIANO/KEYBOARD TUITION
I welcome students from Grade 1 onwards, whether sitting exams, competitions, or working towards auditions or performances – with appropriate preparation time please! Contact me to discuss. I teach from the ABRSM Syllabus (Classical/Jazz), Rockschool, and Trinity Rock & Pop. I also teach students learning for their own enjoyment, in which case feel free to bring your own music but please be aware that there will be an expectation to practise at least 4 times per week to make the lessons worthwhile.
Having a piano or keyboard (and short nails!) to practise on is essential as is having some time each day to practise and assimilate what’s been learned at the last lesson. It’s more fun that way!

MUSIC THEORY/SONGWRITING TUITION
I welcome theory students, either in tandem with their Singing or Piano lessons, or as a stand alone lesson. I can teach from Grade 1 to Grade 8 theory and can help students prepare for exams. It’s easier than you think! Not essential for singing but music reading opens up a whole world of repertoire for piano students. I am a songwriter and can help with songwriting for exams or for your own projects. A link to my most recently release single is in the Video section above ⬆️

I have a DBS Certificate and Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate SQAF Level 6, both of which are up to date. I am also a member of the Independent Society of Musicians and the PRS.

VOCAYOGA

I devised Vocayoga in 2019, when I was studying for my 200hrs Seasonal Yoga Certificate.
Vocayoga is a practice that combines yoga and singing and breathing techniques to improve breath control, vocal abilities, and overall well-being. It focuses on using yoga principles, breathwork (pranayama), and physical postures (asanas) to free the voice, enhance vocal resonance, and promote relaxation and self-expression. At my workshops I often invite a harpist or sound healing practitioner, or I use a crystal pyramid to enhance meditation techniques. I also work with colour visualisation and toning techniques.

My workshops are generally held at the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, 20 Dumbreck Rd, Bellahouston, Glasgow G41 5BW. You can follow me at eventbrite for upcoming classes.

I also offer individual Vocayoga sessions (and Pamper Packages – see FAQ for details), for women. Contact me direct to book. I am offering a Back to School Special. (£50, usually price £80)

Prices for my lessons are on my website.

Book now, places filling up for the Autumn.

Look forward to seeing you, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step (Lao Tzu)
