As a qualified Teacher. I offer Online Biology tuition for individuals or groups via zoom for those undertaking SQA Biology courses.
Bookings now open for session 25/26 starting at timetable change.

Home based students/adult learners are also more than welcome for daytime slots.

I am more than happy to teach any part of any of the above named courses from beginning to end using my own developed materials. ( I personally wrote courses implemented in classrooms in successive years when CFE Biology courses were introduced in the mid 2010’s) I always keep up to date with the latest changes to the official arrangement documents too.

Online zoom tuition is offered in the following courses starting in August
N5 Biology £25per hour (group price is £40 per hour)
Higher Biology £30 per hour (groups price is £45)
Advanced Higher Biology £37.50 per hour (group price £50per hour)

Knowledge and Understanding- most classroom teaching is based around this. I can give a different point of view to compliment classroom progress. I can either keep you one step ahead of classroom timelines or I can consolidate after the content has been taught. A main strength of mine is how I can relate course specification content to real life examples.


Problem solving/Data Handling-
A huge part of SQA Biology that often gets overlooked in the classroom.
I can fully explain all techniques and develop mastery of all PS/DH Q’s from ratios to percentage changes. I use a catalogue of hand picked questions that fall into each type commonly found in the SQA exams.

Investigation Q’s- Around Q3-5 on the short answer paper there is always an Experimental Q worth anything up to and over 6 marks.
This involves meticulous graph reading, the idea of controls as well as dependent and independent variables.

Advanced Higher Q1 incorporating supplementary data booklet also covered extensively.

Advanced Higher Project help is limited to a first come first served basis. Priority given to those I have tutored the longest.

Scientific Literacy-Extracting information from a passage of Topical Biology. Questions are focused on deriving conclusions and processing data contained within the body of text into tables/charts etc. This begins at N5 and it’s a good skill to develop moving forward into Higher and AH.

Essay style Q’s- I show how to approach these style of questions which range from 4 marks in N5 to 9 marks in Higher/Advanced Higher. Following the formula will become second nature after some practice.

The Assignment/project- reintroduced (23/24)following covid measures.
I give a rundown on the layout of the final submission, where the marks are earned and how to maximise the prospect of gaining them all. I can also advise on the common mistakes made where marks are lost.
