For sale very rare, 1960's Ercol Windsor Cowhorn Small Rocking Chair in "Old Colonial Finish". The chair is called 'Cowhorn' due to the style of the arms.

This iconic piece was designed by Lucian Ercolani and manufactured in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and is now back in fashion (keenly collected and highly regarded). Ercol furniture is synonymous with good design, quality materials and craftsmanship and is built for longevity.

The chair has a solid English elm seat with beech backs, armrests, spindles and legs. The seat is showing some lovely complex elm grain. Each beautifully shaped backrest consists of 9 turned spindles. The well constructed solid elm seat is inset beneath with angled tapering legs which provide perfect support, and matching H pattern stretchers help to bolster the chairs structural rigidity. It is finished in 'Old Colonial' colour and matt protective lacquer.

The chair is in excellent (original) vintage condition with some minor marks commensurate with age and use. It is free of any damage, repairs or wear to joints. The chair is sturdy with no loose joints or spindles and no separation to the elm seat. It has been cleaned and waxed. Original ‘Ercol made in High Wycombe Buckinghamshire England’ label is still attached.
