Description
Seller lived as expat in old English district of old Shanghai a decade ago. Brought furnishings home, including handsomely carved dark patina-ed, armed captain's chair.
Sturdy spiral mechanism that allows height of chair to be adjusted with easy swivel movement.
Back panels feature floral design, with central panel echoed in surrounding panels.
Chinese / colonial design, Qing period most probably. I imagine it is made from stained elm. Small amount of wear commensurate with age ie little chip at one of joints. Easy enough to disappear but buyer can do so for themselves.
