Heavy-Duty Modular Suction Cup Luggage Rack (Custom-Built, Universal Fit)

Originally custom-built for a Porsche 987 Boxster, this heavy-duty modular luggage rack can be adjusted to fit a wide range of vehicles. Thanks to its suction-cup design, installation is straightforward and requires no drilling or permanent modifications—meaning your car’s paintwork remains untouched.

Constructed from 3030 aluminium struct, the rack is robust yet versatile. It’s compatible with most aftermarket roof rack accessories (example shown with a Thule bike rack, not included). The removable stopping bar makes it practical for carrying large luggage or extra-wide items.

The rack uses five 6-inch (150mm) suction cups, each rated at 75kg vertical load capacity, giving a combined pull force of 375kg. Once secured, it provides a strong, stable platform while remaining easy to install and remove.

I’ve personally tested it over a 500-mile trip across motorways and country roads in dry and wet conditions, and it performed reliably. While security straps are still recommended as a precaution, the suction system has proven to be very dependable.
