Description
This camper van for sale is a 2008 Volkswagen Crafter with 191006 miles on the clock. It has a manual transmission and a 2.5-litre diesel engine with 109 horsepower.
With a sleeping capacity for 4 people, it includes two fixed double beds but the lower bunk is only suitable for two children in comfort, the top and bottom bunk have their own dedicated 12v socket, dual usb's and their own spot lights switch on a different ring.
There is a diesel heating system which operates off the battery to start then drip feeds off the diesel tank in the rear, there is a panel in the van to start it or a wireless fob on the keys you can start it from 100m away.
There is a gas powered shower with a tee off to feed the sink with cold or hot water or feed the shower to the rear of the van, the sink also has an extension to rinse off out the side or the rear of the van with hot water, perfect for rinsing off wetsuits in the winter and warming up. This takes 2 4D batteries for ignition then runs of the gas which also feeds the hob at the front.
There are spotlights throughout the vehicle and all fed off the 280ah leisure battery which due to lack of use is on its way out imo. We've been to campsites in Pembroke recently and it's fine in the day but in the night it doesn't appear to keep the charge. I can reflect this issue in any purchase price.
There is a vent in the ceiling with blackout and fly net.
Plenty of storage throughout the vehicle as shown in the photos under the seats, cabinets and above the front seats, as well as a huge area in the rear and also two massive full length draws under the lower bed. The one we use to store fire and bbq equipment and other bits and bobs, the other holds our chairs and serves as a pull out kitchen.
The pull out kitchen has a two burner hob with 6 gas canisters ready to go along with storage underneath and to the left.
The fridge runs constantly off the solar, it runs super cold even on the lowest setting of 1. there is a small freezer section at the top of the fridge.
There is also a connection to the rear of the van for 240 hookup which it would need to switched over at the rear to change from the 12v. There is also a Kreiger 2000w inverter to operate from the 12v battery when needed.
The cooker and sink in the van are self explanatory, there is a two burner hob fed from gas in the storage underneath, the sink has hot and cold water with a switch for the pump right underneath.
The water tanks under the van are 70ltrs of fresh water and 35 of waste which is fixed there but not plumbed in.
We bought the van in covid off a guy with two kids in Ammanford, he had bought it off a garage who used it for their business and that was the explanation for no service history, I took the gamble as the guy Matthew seemed honest(I still have the guys number if you wanted to ask the guy some questions) and I also decided that if the van had got to 182,000 miles then chances are it had been looked after as it drove fine. My wife wasn't too pleased. Despite that we did have it looked over and spent about £900 on fixing a few things so we had peace of mind it was all legit and not going to blow up on our travels. Given that it hasn't missed a beat since and we have 4 service records and other work such as sorting out some of the rust which I have a recent receipt for to the value of £1400. The bottom quarter of the van was repaired and sealed. As you can probably see from the photos there has been some amateur paintwork done to remove the other bits of rust around the doors etc. I have ground the rust out, rust proofed where necessary, primed and painted with colour matched paint. It's not perfectly uniform but it is at least protected.
This is an old war horse with everything needed for Off grid Living, the engine is not refined like modern engines so if you are after peaceful journeys I would avoid this van.
I'm always looking and in my opinion there isn't anything with all these features in such good nick for anything like this money. Feel free to get in touch with any questions.
