For sale is our beloved 1972 Volkswagen Dormobile campervan – a true icon of retro travel and van life. It’s a head-turner wherever it goes and packed with character, ready to make new memories with its next owner. Been used for many years as a family holiday vehicle and wedding car.
🔧 Mechanical Condition
• Engine: 1600cc air-cooled
• Mileage: 40204 (believed to have been reset by previous owner possibly on new engine?)
• Gearbox: manual
• Starts well and runs reliably,
• Historic vehicle MOT exempt
• Pop-top - Dormobile: with twin hammock beds in roof
🛋️ Interior Condition
• Conversion: Dormobile - all original fittings
• Sleeping arrangements rock-n-roll bed sleeps 2, plus 2 in pop-top
• Kitchen: Original fold away gas hob under passenger seat; sink and drainer sander work surface
• Upholstery: rear seats reupholstered in 2025 in fire retardant fabric. Driver and passenger seats original covering. Wear visible.
• Interior condition: excellent example of original fittings tidy, clean.

• Comes with: roof rack, buddy seats, original underseat stored dining table. Top cover carpet in ivory (for use as wedding vehicle) easily removed to reveal practical black carpet underneath

💬 The Honest Bits
We want to be upfront:
•Pop-top cavas is original and has slight stains, although been perfectly functional. Engine has ran well only broke down once in 25 years when old dynamo had to be replaced with alternator. Not upgraded or fine tuned.
• if not in use best to disconnect battery to stop radio draining it.
This campervan is not a modern vehicle – it’s full of character, quirks, and charm. If you’re after a classic VW that’s mostly sorted and ready to enjoy, this could be the one. We’ve had many great years of use as a loved family vehicle and wedding car but sadly now it’s time to move on.
