This is a brand new 4 berth conversion, however, the poptop conversion was done by the previous owner.

What’s the story? Well, we love doing the conversions. I am an ex-design engineer now retired and my wife is skilled in interior design, fabrics and furnishings. We ‘do’ about 4 vans per year simply because we enjoy doing them and getting the satisfaction from seeing our ‘Weekender’ design come to life. The design is ours and the construction is all by hand and individual.

We have chosen to convert Mercedes W639 Vianos because….. well, they are simply wonderful high spec prestige vehicles which are ideal for the long distances typical of camper ownership. Just because you have a camper doesn’t mean that you have to compromise your comfort or your safety. Vianos provide their owners with leather seating, heated seats in the front, with full air con front and rear - Vianos are based on the ever popular Mercedes Vito with the upgraded luxury, comfort and soundproofing appropriate to their prestige/executive role. So, with a Viano you get the proven reliability and high mileage potential of the Vito with the luxury that Mercedes are renowned for in their prestige vehicles. This is all my opinion of course and I’m unashamedly biased!

The base vehicle for this conversion is a silver 2006 2.2 litre ELWB Ambiente with approx. 136k miles. It’s MOT‘d until April 2026 and went through its previous test with no advisories . We have had the vehicle since April and it’s had 4 previous owners from new. All Mercedes recalls have been completed. In our ownership it has been our daily transport and also done several long UK road trips.

The conversion is best appreciated by viewing the photographs. With the pop top it’s a 4 berth conversion - a double bed in the pop top and a double ‘downstairs’.
The conversion provides a 2 burner hob, sink with cold water, 12v cool box and toilet with 12V lighting and individual storage for clothes (rear wardrobe), pots, pans, crockery toiletries and bedding. Electricity supply is via 12V leisure battery and 240V hook-up (with 240v smart charger for leisure battery). Waste water is via external outlet and fresh water is via internal storage, with 12V pump to a cold tap.

The conversion utilises the existing Mercedes seats. This was critical to us for reasons of safety and comfort particularly for rear seat passengers - very often our grandchildren. Both the front seats swivel and the rear seats (2) are on the Mercedes rail system for forward and backward positioning or removal. The rear seats have the original manufacturer’s inertia seatbelts. The rear seats are also reclining to allow rear seat passengers a similar level of comfort to those at the front. Luxury and comfort was the very theme of the Viano and it is retained wherever possible in our conversion.

Sleeping – there is a capacity for 2 to sleep inside the van and a double bed in the roof pop top. The ‘downstairs’ bed takes about 20 seconds to create. The bed sits on top of the folded rear seats and folds out from the rear shelf. The end result is a small double – we supply self inflating mattress – this is remarkably comfortable but also easily upgraded with a mattress topper. The rear windows are curtained and there is a a screen cover for the front windows.
As can be seen from the photographs the ‘boot’ area is designed to store the table and also a pair of Decathlon Quechua folding chairs also included in the sale.

Clearly the best way to fully appreciate the conversion is to come and spend some time looking round it. We welcome any viewing and appreciate there’s lot to take in.
