Paid £230 plus vat for a roof survey when buying a house. Was given a full report outlining work that needed doing to the main roof including replacing purlins and the flat roof totalling £8940 for the main roof and £8280 for the flat roof. I then had a further 2 surveys done (one by the seller and one by a family friend of mine with 25 years roofing experience) plus a fitter survey of the flat roof and all advised that no work whatsoever needed doing. Even taking into consideration differences in opinion I can’t see how this quote was made with any intention other than to mislead me into paying over £16 000 for works that didn’t need doing. Review for ACL Roofing Ltd I had a very disappointing experience with ACL Roofing Ltd. Initially, they quoted £750, but after a site visit, the cost increased to £1,150. Despite the price increase, the work was not done properly. Instead of completing the agreed brickwork, they used excessive fire foam, and the repointing was poorly executed, leaving noticeable gaps. When I raised concerns, the team was unprofessional and resistant to fixing the issues. They were more focused on getting paid than ensuring the job was completed to a satisfactory standard. I requested an invoice before releasing the payment, but they responded rudely and insisted on immediate payment. Additionally, they left the site messy and did not reinstall the insulation as agreed. Overall, I would not recommend ACL Roofing Ltd due to their lack of professionalism, misleading pricing, and subpar workmanship.

Had this company around, quoted £20,000 for a whole new roof. Only needed some repairs done to the roof. Other quotes from roofers came to £10,000 and friend had charged £8,000 for a similar sized roof. Would avoid if you don’t want to waste your money.

Please be aware that this company is highly unsuitable. They did an initial job for me and then suggested some other work. I foolishly agreed to this and I absolutely regret it. They initially required a 30% deposit and again I made a terrible judgement in paying this. When they came to do the work a week later it was done in less than 3hrs and based on the price I was paying and what I’d been told about the large amount of work involved I began to question their honesty. So I said I’d pay the balance once I had a professional check out that it had been done as specified. At this point the owner got very aggressive and threatened to send workers to rip off what they’d done to the roof valleys. Since they’d simply painted on some substance on the roof their threatened action would have damaged the roof and caused immense problems, it’s not like I was making them wait weeks to get paid, I just wanted a professional to check that their work was acceptable. I felt so threatened by them I paid the balance just to feel safe in my own house. I would strongly advice anyone not to go near this company, they will no doubt reply saying it’s a false review. But don’t make the same mistake I made, avoid at all costs!
