Being offered for sale here is the 1950 First Edition Buffalo Bill Wild West Annual, which is highly collectable as it is a vintage original and not a modern facsimile.

This is a private sale from a pet and smoke free home. The book has been in the possession of the current owner’s family since it was originally purchased shortly after publication and as such is a rare find these days given it is 70 years old.

This annual was written by Arthur Groom and its 192 pages profusely illustrated throughout with colour and black and white comic strips, plates and drawings by Denis McLoughlin – including coloured map end papers.

The size of this quarter bound hard covered portrait format book is approximately 190 mm wide by 255 mm high.

This book has been read and well used. However, its binding remains firm and tight. There are no loose or missing pages, nor are there any rips or tears to the inside pages. Its red cloth spine is intact; dull and mottled with a few marks. The edges of its thick pictorial board covers are worn and its corners a bit bent due to having been read many times over its long life. The covers have various small marks and signs of use on them – which is to be expected given this is a vintage item. The covers and inside pages are not marred by notes or highlighting, or colouring in, or prior owner inscriptions. There is a small handwritten note stating U1 on the top right hand edge of the map on the inside front end paper. There are marks on some pages, and a light yellow discolouration, commensurate with their age. The text and illustrations are still bright and clear. There is no dust cover and this annual was not published with one.
