Description

I’m selling my 1981 Hardy Motor Sailer (20ft) including trailer. I’ve reduced the price significantly as sadly I don’t have the time to and commitment. She’s had plenty investment over the past few years. Currently stored indoor for the past 12 months, she is in need of a clean-up and dust off but with little work to get her back on the water.

Key Details:

Length: 20ft – The perfect size for easy handling, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been sailing for years.

Engine: Smooth and reliable Volvo Penta 2002 (18hp) 2-cylinder engine – she’ll get you wherever you want to go with no trouble. Being a reliable Volvo, the engine just keeps going.

Interior: I’ve updated the cockpit interior, so it’s both modern and comfortable, but still keeps that classic Hardy feel.

Recent Work: Lots of investment has gone into her recently, meaning you won’t have to worry about maintenance. Work includes:

New canopy and boom cover in 2020 (£2800)
New fender rope (£600)
Reupholstered cockpit interior cushions (£2300)
New Jabsco toilet (£150)
New robust interior deck panels (teak and holly effect) (£790)
Propeller reconditioned and tuned
Recent hull (under waterline) strip back, new primer and antifouled
New throttle/gear cable
Upgraded interior cabin doors (2020) (£850)

About 'Gigha':

For the last 8 years, Gigha has been kept on freshwater, so she’s been protected from the harsher saltwater conditions. She’s also stored indoors over the winter period, keeping her in great shape year-round. This has meant less wear and tear, and she’s stayed in fantastic condition.

This Hardy Motor Sailer is ideal if you’re after a boat that’s easy to handle, comfortable to sail, and has been well looked after. Whether you’re out for a leisurely sail, a weekend getaway, or exploring the coastline, Gigha will make every trip a pleasure.

Itinerary:

4 berth (2 x double: forecabin & cockpit), cushions, curtains
Galley with 2-burner alcohol stove (very reliable)
Plenty of storage
Heads compartment with new Jabsco toilet (see notes)
Removable cockpit dining table
2 x batteries (engine and leisure battery), new isolation switch
Diesel cabin heating (never used)
Mast, spars, mainsail, and jib (N.B. – jib needs TLC patch repair)
Robust yard trailer (probably roadworthy but just never used on the road. It has only been in freshwater)
Nav lights, speed log & depth sounder, electric anchor windlass, cabin lights, chartplotter, horn, engine compartment fan/ventilation
Cabin ventilation – 'Dorade box' and solar vent
GRP lightweight tender
Matching black fenders, mooring warps, 2 x boat hooks, boarding ladder/platform, auxiliary engine mount/bracket
Spare engine parts & manual (including new filters, engine oil, and gearbox oil)

Price: £7250 ONO

Anyone who knows the solid build and reliability of a Hardy will see that this one is competitively priced, particularly given the recent upgrades, itinerary, and condition in comparison to others.

If you’re looking for a well-maintained, classic boat that’s ready for the water, Gigha could be just what you need. Get in touch if you’d like more details or to arrange a viewing.

N.B Currently stored indoors at Loch Lomond with remote access via ferry (stored on Inch Murrin Island) so please do get in touch if you'd like a viewing and I can arrange ferry transit.
