Description
12ft CLINKER BOAT
• Built by JW Mackay, Ayr Scotland in the 1960’s. Exact date unknown.
• Length 12ft, beam 5 ft.
• The dinghy was built by third generation Orkney boatbuilder James ‘Jimmy’ William Mackay (1905-1982), originally working with his father in Stromness, before taking over the business himself under the name J W Mackay and moving to Newton boatyard in Ayr. Jimmy is seen in the bottom right of the photo.
• Brass bung and JW MacKay nameplate inside transom.
• A robust rope fender is fitted to the top plank to provide protection when coming alongside.
• I pair of varnished leathered oars and galvanised rowlocks.
• The dinghy has been varnished internally and externally with International varnish, is in good condition and being used currently.
CONSTRUCTION
• Clinker planked in larch. All copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers.
• Mahogany sheer strake.
• Oak and mahogany stem and keel with mahogany transom.
• Mahogany thwarts.
• Slatted, varnished oak sole boards
EQUIPMENT
• MERCURY MARINER 3.5 hp 4 Four Stroke Outboard Engine Long Shaft Boat 3.5hp F3.5. Excellent condition.
• Tiller extender bar
• 18ft boat trailer with new stub axles, bearing and tyres. New jockey wheel. New tow hitch. Rollers recently serviced. Comes with removable lighting board
• Pair of galvanised rowlocks
• Pair of bladed oars
• Buoyancy aid
• Galvanised anchor with chain and rope
• Garmin Striker 4 fish finder with GPS. Comes with battery pack
• Hand operated bilge pump
