I've owned this car for almost 12 years and it's been a reliable daily driver. However, at the end of 2024, the car began misfiring on starts in cold weather and eventually broke down. I had it towed to a BMW specialist, who connected it to a diagnostic machine. One of the fuel injectors came up with a fault code.

The mechanic replaced the faulty injector. He also replaced the high-pressure fuel pump, fitted new spark plugs, and did an oil and filter change. He mentioned that the original fault was caused by fuel leaking from the injector and mixing with the engine oil, which contributed to the breakdown.

After the repairs, the car ran well for a few months, but the same misfiring issue has now returned. It still starts and runs, but misfires and smokes. I had it towed home to avoid causing further damage. It's since been towed to the mechanic again for another checkup, and then back home after I decided it was time to move on. He told me that he sourced a second-hand, refurbished injector with a different code from the other three and that he really should have replaced all injectors with 4 new ones with the same codes.

Unfortunately, I’m not willing to throw money at four new fuel injectors and other things needed to get the car back on the road again. It's time to move on, so the car is up for sale as is.
