Description
For Sale is a barn find Geoffrey Butler race bike in need of light restoration. The frame is steel Reynolds 531 competition frame, it is good and straight and measures 54cm from the centre of the crank to the top of the top tube making it a size medium. There is some light rust coming through the paint in many spots but there are no structural problems.
The bike has the much respected Sun Tour GPX groupset throughout, this would date the build to around 1991 when they were still being hand built in Croydon. As far as I can ascertain all the brakes, shifters and derailleurs are in working order but would need cleaning and tuning. The teeth on the rear seven speed cassette are good and square.
Both tyres are good, no cracking and with good tread. Neither innertube will hold air for more than a couple of days.
The rear wheel has a very slight wobble and requires truing, if you don't want to do this yourself Halfords charge £14.
Included in the sale is a quality, period frame fit afa 4 pump which works.
No saddle included.
Viewing is encouraged but it has been fairly described, no silly offers please, it is offered here at a very reasonable price.
