Description

This is such a lovely bike, from an era when bike manufacturers actually cared about what they made, made it well functionally but also made to last. This was manufactured in 1998.

I've fully serviced and cleaned this and it's barely been used and sat sheltered all its life. It has some more recent brake pads which are as new, and the tyres have been replaced from the originals and also have no signs of being used.

21 speed rapid fire gear shifters with integrated brake lever, not the usual rubbish, these have metal clamps, metal brake levers, if you grease them periodically they will continue to shift for years and years without any issues.
The lovely red paintwork is fantastic, there'a a couple of minor grazes that aren't overly obvious, they put a decent amount of effort into the paint and it shows, there's even two metal plaques affixed to the frame instead of a sticker, you don't get that attention to detail these days except for higher end bikes.

Alloy wheels which I've polished and hubs that spin up beautifully smoothly, this takes out so much of the effort from riding a bike, the 26" wheels with the slightly ridged tyres will work fantasticlly for off or on road rides. This isn't an out and out MTB in the sense of going downhill/extreme riding, but a great all-rounder.
Brakes will stop you superbly, if anything you could back them off a bit as they are pin sharp.

Brand new alloy pannier rack is fitted should you wish to carry bags for a day ride or for every day commuting/shopping.
Also fitted is a great set of Cateye Lights, powered by AAA batteries that are included, they're fitted to the bike but not shown in the photo.

It's a pretty small frame, 17"/44cm, so will suit someone 5ft tall (possibly even shorter) up to about 5ft 6. It was destined for my step daughter, but I bought her something a it bigger as this was a smidge too small.

Collection from Thriplow village between Royston and Cambridge, also collect from Letchworth Garden City and you can test ride as much as you like. If you really trust that it will work for you and you aren't too far away, I could bring it round for the cost of the diesel. Ask me first if it's within reasonable distance
