Vintage Raleigh Traveler – Early ’70s Classic with Brooks Saddle
Selling my early 1970s (possibly late ’60s) Raleigh Traveler. It’s a proper vintage city bike with a lot of character. This includes:
- 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub gear.
- Full mudguards (perfect for Glasgow).
- Brooks leather saddle.
- Pannier rack.
- Kryptonite frame lock and chain.
Size wise, it measures in at 22'' frame, but I would say it feels smaller than that. I would recommend it for people in the range of 5'6'' to 5'10'' (167-177cm). It rides well and is surprisingly comfy. Buyer be warned: a bike as old as this takes a bit more maintenance than a new bike!
That said, it’s a great-looking bike with a classic style that gets noticed, and it’s fully rideable as it is. Very much a dutch-bike. Also the bell note is just perfect.
The Books saddle is probably worth £50 on its own, and the Kryptonite locks £40. Putting the whole thing up for £155 to get a quicker sale.
Finally, I was given a chain guard but never got round to fitting it.
