Description
No bicycle sums up the 1970's like the iconic Raleigh Chopper, designed by Tom Karen, who designed another iconic 1970's vehicle, the Reliant Bond Bug car. This is a Mk1 Raleigh Chopper, manufactured at the Raleigh factory in Nottingham UK in January 1972, denoted by the stamped code 72 1 on the original rear 3 speed Sturmey Archer hub, with crossover frame and handlebars. It has the classic 3 speed shifter, along with ape hanger handlebars and long saddle. The red line repo tyres are brand new and the gears and brakes all work fine, so it can be displayed or ridden. The colour is Brilliant Orange, but it has had a respray during its lifetime, with replacement period decals and some wear and tear parts. It's not in showroom condition, but has the look of a 53 year old bicycle, which has been used, but not abused. So grab yourself the most iconic 1970's bicycle for display or riding this Summer, which will never go out of fashion and only increase in price. Collection in person from Highfield, Southampton SO17 postcode area.
