Description
This is a Belgian Diamant steel cyclocross bike from the mid-80’s. I’ve owned it for about 15 years. Had it stripped and repainted myself in this red-white-blue. Raced it a few seasons, then hung it up. House move forces pondering on my chances of ever racing CX again 😎
Why is it a CX bike? No bottle braze-ons. Sharp handling. Dropout screws for setting up perfect wheel position.
The spec is mostly 9-speed Tiagra with external lever cables because cool and mud-proof and faux-aero bars on the straight bits. Brakes are Kool-Stop multicompound pads on cantis because cantistop-won’tstop is what CX is all about ( they work bloody well from the hoods). Chain and block are new, I’ll pop on new steel chainrings before sale.
I’m 6’ and it fits perfectly as shown, shedloads of seatpost to play with. Frame is a CX race aggro 555mm top tube C-C, matching 555mm BB-top tube. Wheelbase is a nippy 1020mm with 425mm chainstays. Ie it corners like a snake. 100mm stem on a quill to 1 1/8 adapter and 420mm bars. BB and headset run smooth.
Rare for a frame this age, both dropouts have working screws to get the wheel alignment perfect, you could set it up singlespeed if you want.
Bontrager Team Tyres are 40mm so not UCI-legal if your race commission cares. But they’re cracking tyres otherwise.
Will courier anywhere in UK tracked for £40-ish. Or you can collect from near Perth, Scotland.
