Description
WORLD WAR ONE WW1 TRENCH ART SHELL CASE, DEEPLY EMBOSSED WITH TWO ANGELS & FLOWERS, MARKED WITH INITIALS L B, H23cm - GERMAN DATED MAI 1918
WILL POST - I can post this for £4.50 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).
Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
Part of our small collection of trench art, we got this at a Vide Grenier at Reims in the Champagne region.
It’s a well decorated trench art vase deeply hand embossed with with two winged angels holding flowers, a plant and what appear to be the initials L B.
The little I know about militaria is from the internet so I’m happy to be corrected but it appears to be a German artillery shell case and I have been advised this is confirmed by the identifying mark St.
It is marked to the base with numerous marks including a clear date of MAI 1918 and St 106 67% Cu AW - see photos.
Now worn but still bright and very sound it makes a great piece of WW1 Militaria.
In very good vintage condition with wear, tarnishing, a split to the upper edge and scratches but no damage - please examine photos carefully for condition.
The brass is sound with some wear, tarnishing, and scratches - see photos.
The upper edge is a bit battered and misshapen with a small split but still sound - see photos.
Marked to the base as described above - see photos
Measure approximately:
23 cm tall,
9 cm diameter,
weighs about 750 g.
