Description
A magnificent Roll Top Desk in red walnut. The desk has panelled sides and back, all deeply fielded, and a superb interior with 19 drawers (one is a double) and 20 cubby holes. The handles in the base are beautifully carved and it has a tray above each flight of drawers. The desk has 4 panels to each side and the keyhole escutcheon is stamped "The Arvon".
The carving to the handles and the decorative moulding above the roll top and to the back of the desk are testament to the craftsmanship involved in its production.
All but two of the draws lock when the roll top is closed. The lock and keys do work but when closed the locked mechanism is slightly loose and can be forced open. Some slight damage to the desk top and one of the draws has a gap in the bottom, please see images where these are shown.
