Description
From the dark, deep depths of our non-damp and well insulated attic, I present to this attractive, small, solid brass temple bell. I have no idea where it originally came from but it now needs a new home.
This a beautiful bell, fully working with depicted scenes engraved into it. I have speculated on those scenes below based on similar bells being sold (please see Details). In regards to the age, I have been unable to find anything exact but again, similar bells have had dates from the 1940's onwards.
I did give the bell a quick polish before advertising it. In excellent physical condition, as per the pictures and rings loud and clear.

Engraved on the Bell: While researching this bell, I have discovered two interpretations of the scene engraved on the wall around the bell. The first described it as a "Temple battle scene" and described it: "The design has a decidedly Old Testament feel to it. Or maybe Babylonian or Assyrian, judging by the dress of the figures cast into the surface. It would appear to show soldiers displaying the heads of opponents to each other after a battle. So I'm thinking this represents the Battle of Carchemish in 605 BC which is mentioned in Ezekiel in the Old Testament." The second stated that the engraving "depicted human sacrifice".
