Description

VINTAGE FRENCH ENAMEL STORAGE TINS, JARS, CANISTERS - SUCRE FARINE CAFÉ PATES THÉ EPICES, RIBBED ENAMEL - 1940s EARLY MID CENTURY

WILL POST - I can post this for £7.99 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our collection of French kitchenalia, we got these from a Brocante at Troyes in the Champagne region some years ago.
They’re are a set of six enamel storage tins or canisters with push fit lids and ribbed sides.
Art deco in style and font however they probably date to around the 1940s and are marked to the front: SUCRE FARINE CAFÉ PATES THÉ EPICES (sugar flour coffee pasta tea spices).
They are what I’m informed is a caramel brown colour with a graduated dark to light design which, although worn, is still bright.
Weighty and substantial tins reinforced by the ribbed sides they’re very well used, quite battered and worn, but still in a sound functional condition and they also make charming pieces of French kitchenalia.

In good, sound, vintage condition with wear, knocks, chips, rusting and staining consistent with age and use - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
All are worn, both to the exterior and interior, but still sound.
The enamel is thick and bright.
The writing is faded but still legible.
Intact and watertight, they have chips, some larger than others, and rust in several areas but I have found no serious corrosion or through perforation - see photos.
The lids are in similar condition and push fit reasonably well.
All surfaces are rigid and sound with no flex to them.
Some are slightly misshapen from the circular but are sound - see photos.
The bases have wear but are sound.
Marked with a maker’s mark to the bottom that I read as CJP or similar.

Measure approximately:
SUCRE - 19 cm tall with lid on, 13 cm diameter at it widest,
FARINE - 17 cm tall with lid on, 11.5 cm diameter,
CAFE - 16.5 cm tall with lid on, 11 cm diameter,
PATES - 15 cm tall with lid on, 10 cm diameter,
THÉ- 14 cm tall with lid on, 9 cm diameter,
EPICES - 12 cm tall with lid on, 8 cm diameter,
Weigh about 2.4 kg in total.
