VINTAGE FRENCH DESVRES POTTERY UTENSIL, TEA TOWEL RACK HANGER, SPATULA & SKIMMER - GABRIEL FOURMAINTRAUX - 1970s - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

One of the remaining pieces from our Desvres pottery collection, we got this from a vide grenier at Mussy in the Burgundy region.

It’s an unusual hand made ceramic kitchen utensils or tea towel hanger from the Desvres Pottery Chaumiere or cottage range dating to the late 1970s.

Desvres Dutertre Faience is famous in France, as is the maker of these items - Gabriel Fourmaintraux.

An attractive usable item that comes with two vintage wooden handled utensils, a spatula and a skimmer or ecumoire marked INOXAAFRANCE, the hanger has two hooks with a pottery top.

The wood is now a little worn but the pottery is in very good condition and this make great functional and decorative piece of French kitchenalia.

In good vintage condition wear consistent with age and use but no damage - please see photographs for condition.
There is wear to the wood but I can find only light wear and no chips or cracks to the pottery.
The glazed floral design is still bright.
The interior is glazed and clean.
The hanging hooks have tarnishing but are secure.
There are two metal wear strips that are sound and secure.
There is a hanging loop to the rear.
I can find no maker’s mark.

The utensils are worn but sound - see photos.

Measures approximately:
Utensil rack - 33.5 cm tall, 14.5 cm wide
Utensils - 36 cm long,
Weigh about 650 g in total.
