PAIR OF VINTAGE FRENCH BOBBIN LEG CHAIRS, OAK CORNER CHAIRS, RUSH SEAT, SCALLOP BACK, 74cm tall - 1900s ARTS & CRAFTS

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got these from a brocante at Chauny in the Aisne region a while ago and have used them either side of a fireplace.
It’s a charming handmade pair of wooden, I’m advised oak, bobbin leg corner chairs with turned bobbin legs and cross braces, scalloped backs and rush seats.
Of undetermined age but obviously old and arts and crafts in style they’re probably date to the early to mid twentieth century.
They’re now worn and a little creaky but still very sound and functional as intended and also great statement decorative pieces, side tables…

In good vintage condition with wear and knocks but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
Made from wood, I believe oak, which i think was originally varnished.
They were quite dusty and have had a light clean and clear wax.
There is wear, knocks and some scuffs but no cracks or damage.
The rush seats are worn with some pulls and staining but sound and usable with no sign of mould or woodworm - see photos.
The seats slot into place.
Although a matching pair one is very slightly bigger than the other indicating them to be hand made.
Structurally solid and I have sat on them with a little creaking but no loose joints.
I have found no woodworm to the wood.
Stand well if a little crookedly.
The wood is well turned and the wood grain shows nicely.
The leg bases are worn from use but are sound and have worn pads.
I can find no maker’s mark.

Measures approximately:
74 cm tall,
39 cm square (about 39 cm to all four sides),
39 cm seat height,
Weigh about 4.5 kg each, 9 kg total.
