LARGE ANTIQUE FRENCH CAST IRON HOUSE NUMBER TWENTY ONE 21, HOUSE NUMBER SIGN, WELL CAST, NICE PATINA, GILDED & TRACES OF ORIGINAL PAINT, 34x16.5cm 2.6kg - 1900s - REDUCED!
WILL POST - I can post this for £7.99 if paid for by bank transfer (Note - we only accept payment in cash on collection or by bank transfer if delivery agreed - no PayPal, card, or courier payment).
Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
This is an original antique French house number sign in heavy cast iron that we found in a shed to our French house (not numbered 21 weirdly…).
It’s a high quality well cast piece with the number 21 and the edging standing in sharp relief that I’m advised dates to the early 1900s.
Now worn and rusted but still very sound and legible, it has gilded detailing and also traces of what appears to be original paint (green/black) giving it a great patina.
This is still useable as is or would paint up smartly if so required- depending on the number of your house I suppose…
In good vintage condition with wear and rust but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
The surfaces are well cast and have rust and worn paintwork - see photos.
No cracks or damage.
This was dirty and I have given it a wash and coat of clear wax resulting in a stable surface.
Traces of green paint just visible - see photos.
Heavy and rigid with no flex.
Two holes for mounting.
The rear is in a worn and rusted but sound condition.
I can find no maker’s mark.
Measures approximately:
34 cm long maximum end to end, 23 cm gold trim to number edges,
16.5 cm tall,
About 1.5 cm thick/deep,
Weighs about 2.6 kg.
