Superb Antique brown and white china British Rivers Ironstone by the Clyde Pottery Company c1819.
Rare antique Clyde Potter 18-inch by 14-inch Scottish Ironstone Platter
Date range 1814-1841
Rare Clyde Pottery Company British Rivers ashet or serving platter in the characteristic shape of the period.
Fine antique glaze crazing with antique staining to reverse but very clean antique patina on the front face as shown
British rivers Series featured images drawn from 18th Century engravings not based on any original scene but rather imaginary creations comprised of standard elements such as trees, bridges or buildings which were switched about to give a range of pastoral and romantic central panel decoration with floral border in delicate brown transfer.
British Rivers pieces rarely come on the open market and an identical piece can be found in the McClean museum and Art Gallery collection
