Description
Called the "Artigraph", this instrument is quality constructed from box wood and brass by J H Steward Ltd 406 The Strand. I believe it could date anywhere from 1890 to 1930 and could have been for civilian or military use. It comes in its original protective box, measuring 36cm x 26cm.
James Henry Steward founded his business in 1852 and produced an extensive range of items for military use advertised as instruments for ‘Reconnoitring, Sketching, Night Marching, Signally, Gun Laying’.
