Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!
We got this charming early 1900s plaster sculpture, or bust, of a young boy from a brocante at Chamesson in the Burgundy region and have used it as a decorative display.
Typical of early 1900s French decoration, it’s soundly made from thickly painted plaster or chalkware, I think to resemble terracotta, it has a mark of N 1 to the rear.
Now worn with some staining and chips but a really good patina it is still very sound, presents well and makes a decorative great piece…
In good vintage condition with wear, chips, and staining consistent with its age and use - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
The bust is thick and sound but has several areas of wear and paint chips back to bare plaster including but not exclusively to the nose, shoulders and base edges - see photos.
The surfaces are stable and sound.
Stands well.
Marked to the lower rear edge N 1 but I can find no maker’s mark.
Measures approximately:
27 cm tall, 14 cm long, 11 cm deep/wide,
Weighs about 900 g.
